Understanding theme layout

This documentation is to help you regarding each step of customization. Please go through the documentation carefully to understand how this template is made and how to edit this properly.

Step by Step Guide to set Up Wholly

Setup Navigation Menu

There are two Navigation menus in Wholly Left Menu (primary menu) and Top menu (secondary menu), to set up your menu you need to

  • Go to Appearance > Menu if you already have created your menu then there will be two options at the bottom of menu box Top Menu and Left Menu
  • Check Left Menu if you want to show your navigation menu in left menu or check Top Menu for top menu (note: top menu does not support drop download menu if your navigation has drop down menu then please select Left Menu to display your navigation).

Setup Module #1 and #2 for Wholly

Module in wholly is used to display featured posts, Module #1 displays over all featured posts where module #2 is for category page so it displays only featured post in category.

To Enable Module #1 and #2 in Wholly

  • Go to Wholly Options > Module Settings > and enable / disable Home Module and Archive Module from there.

To Select Post for Module #1 and Module #2 you need

  • To go to Posts > Edit Post you want to Pick.
  • Then Post page will open and in that page scroll to bottom, Select Post in Home Module in Wholly Post Options.
  • For displaying posts in Module#2 just check Feature in Category in in Wholly Post Options.

Understanding Wholly Widgets and How to Display Post in them.

Wholly is Crafted with two widgets Wholly Posts Widget and Wholly Video Widget, Wholly Posts Widget can display Editor’s Picks, Popular and Video Posts. Where Wholly Video Widget only displays video posts but it has unique design in terms of displaying video posts.

To add widgets to wholly you need to go to Appearance > Widget and drag Wholly Post Widget and Wholly Video Widget to Widget Area #1 or Widget Area #2 at the right hand side of the page.

 

Displaying Posts in Wholly Posts Widget

As Mentioned above Wholly Posts widget has ability to display Editors Pick’s, Popular posts and Video Posts.

To Display Post as Editors Pick’s in wholly posts widget you need to

  1. Go to Posts > Edit the post you would like to pick then scroll to bottom at the post page and check Editor’s picks in Wholly Post Options 
  2. You also need to Select Post order by: as Editor’s Picks in wholly widget settings.

To Display Popular and Video Posts you just need to select Post order by: as Popular or Video in wholly posts widget. Note: Your must have video posts in your blog if you want to display video post in widget.

Setup Recent Posts Section

To Set up Recent posts section you don’t need to do anything special you just need to add posts in your post section in WordPress admin panel it will automatically be added in recent posts section, and if you want to edit recent posts styles then just go to Wholly options > Blog Settings.

General Settings

In General Settings you Will find 5 sections, 1 main sections and 4 sub sections The main sections allows you change overall background color and text colors, for the theme and it also enables you to integrate Google Analytics code in your website.

list of 4 sub sections :-

Layout Sections – allows you to enable Boxed Layout and change Max Width of website Container.

Image Settings – in this section you will find option to change over all images height and options to enable/disable Lazy Load

Page Loading – Have options to enable/disable loading for the page and option to change its color.

Custom CSS – The obvious, allows you to add custom css to theme.

Ads Management

Right Now Wholly has two different specific Ad Areas, one is in Main Blog Loop (Which allows you to display ads between blog loop as user loads new posts.) and Second one is Above Single Post Loop. If you want to add more advertisement in your website please use Widget Areas to add them.

And in this Section you will find options to enable/disable Ad Areas for the theme and options to add you advertisement picture or code in it.

Header and Menu

In this section you will find options to make left menu and search icon sticky, change Main Logo and Left Navigation Logo height and upload left navigation logo.

Module Settings

In this sections you can enable/disable Home Module and Archive Module for the theme, change their meta information for example you can enable/ disable Post Category and Post Excerpt in module posts and you can change modules margin settings for desktops and mobile.

Page Settings

In this section you can enable/disable Page Title and Breadcrumbs for the Single Pages.

Blog Settings

In Blog Settings you will find two sections one main and second is Single Post Settings.

In Main Section you are allowed to change Blog Heading, Meta Information, Pagination Type, Loading Button Styles & Loading Button Text.

Blog Heading – you can change blog heading text (This text used as recent loop heading).

Meta Information – in this option you can enable disable Post Category, Post Excerpt in recent blog posts and archive page blog posts.

Pagination Type – this will allow you pick pagination type between Default (Next / Previous),  Numbered (1 2 3 4…) and  Ajax (Load More Button) for recent blog and recent archive section.

Loading Button Styles & Loading Button Text – enables you to change recent and archive blog button styles and text.

In Single Post Settings, you will find options to edit single post layout and styles

Align Single Post Header – Choose where you would like to align single post header (alignment includes post title, breadcrumb, catagory, excerpt & author).

Breadcrumb / Category – Pick what do you want to display above Post Title on your single post template.

Enable Lazy load – Enables you Lazy Load function for Single Post Images, this will improve page load time.

Remove Post Excerpt – Enable this to remove the Excerpt from displaying on your single post template.

Remove Post Author – Enable this to remove the Author name from displaying on your single post template.

Remove Image Caption – Enable this to remove the Image Caption from displaying on your single post template.

Remove Post Date – Enable this to remove the Date from displaying on your single post template.

Remove Post Tags – Enable this to remove the Tags from displaying on your single post template.

Remove Author Card – Enable this to remove the Author from displaying on your single post template.

Remove Comments – Enable this to remove the Comments from displaying on your single post template.

Typography

In this section you can change Typography Setting for overall themes.

Theme Styling

In this section you can change colors for overall theme.

Note : wholly is crafted with two colors primary and secondary you will also find primary variant and secondary variant, the primary variant color are used in buttons like Wholly text Button and secondary variant used as border color in theme.

Animations

In this section you can change loading animations for pages and blogs posts.

Social Media

This section enables you to add your social profile icons to your website. but right now you can only display them inside footer, so to enable them go to Wholly options > Footer > check Social Icon options to display social icons in footer.

Demo Importer

In this section you will find all pre-made demos for wholly with one click installation options.

Frequent Asked Questions

How to change main logo and navigation logo for mobile?

There are two logos in Wholly one is main logo and second is navigation logo for mobile device.

Change main logo

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize in your WordPress admin panel
  2. Then Pick Site Identity from WordPress Customizer and Upload logo from there.

Change Navigation logo for Mobile

  1. Go to Wholly Options > Header and Menu and change Left Navigation from there.
  2. You can also change height for both logos from Wholly Options > Header and Menu .

How to change website colors in wholly?

Wholly is crafted with two colors primary and secondary you will also find primary variant and secondary variant, the primary variant color are used in buttons like Wholly text Button and secondary variant used as border color in theme.

To change color scheme for your website you need to go through following steps

  1. Go to Wholly Options > Theme Styling and Change colors settings as you desired.
  2. To Change Overall body text color Go to Wholly Options > General Settings > change overall text color from there.

How to change typography settings?

Wholly come with complete set of typography, you are enable to edit typography completely, Just Go to Wholly Options > Typography and pick your desired typography settings.

How to pick and display featured posts?

You can select featured post for two pages one is for home and second one is for archive page (category page).

  1. To select a post as a featured post for home page you need to go to Posts > Edit Post you want to show as featured.
  2. Then Post page will open and in that page scroll to bottom, Select Post in Home Module in Wholly Post Options.
  3. For featured post selection for category page just check Feature in Category in in Wholly Post Options.

How to enable / disable lazy load in wholly?

Lazy Load improves page load by enabling your website load images after page load as user reached them. To enable lazy load in wholly

  1. Go to Wholly Options > General Settings > Image Settings > Enable Lazy Load from there.

How to change overall image heights?

Wholly Controls overall image height with aspect ratio you can edit images height for modules, widgets, recent posts and single posts, by just one simple options, to change image height with ratio

  1. Go to Wholly Options > General Settings > Image Settings > Select your desired Featured Image Ratio.

How to pick and display Editor’s Picks, Popular and Video Posts?

Editor’s Picks

  1. Editors Pick post are only available in Wholly Posts Widget to pick post as editor’s pick
  2. Go to Posts > Edit > Scroll to bottom and check Editor’s picks in Wholly Post Options 

How to integrate Google Analytics in wholly?

To add your Google Analytics code to wholly

  • Go to Wholly options > General setting and paste your Google Analytics code inside Google Analytics Box.

Remember to include the entire script code from google, if you just enter your tracking ID it won’t work.

 

How to connect and display social profile?

To Connect your Social profiles with wholly you need to

  • Go to Wholly Options > Social Media and enter your social profile there.
